Our sawmill only processes woods from local Calgary trees, making sure to also utilize the byproducts so nothing goes to waste. 

We love custom woodwork but we can’t bear the wasteful practices in woodworking. The business started small, repurposing timber that would otherwise be thrown in the landfill. There is such beauty in wood, so we worked to fully utilize every log delivered to us. To this day, a lot of our beautiful decorative wood comes from local Calgary trees.

For us, it is the wood product that showcases the beauty of the tree where it came from. Here are the types of live edge wood you will find in our store:

• Ash – sleek cream-colored wood with uneven grain, perfect for nature-inspired woodworks. 
• Birch lumber – tough hardwood with fine, even grain, good for finished woodworks.
• Douglas fir – durable, inexpensive lumber with a good-looking grain that has good workability.
• Elm – attractive-looking grain that is tough and resists splitting. 
• Maple – dense and durable at a reasonable price, and looks nice when finished. 
• Poplar lumber – nice uniform grain, low in density and hardness, so it is easy to work with tools 
• Red Cedar – characteristic reddish-brown hue with a straight grain and a sweet smell, with a medium texture perfect for woodworking tools. Attractive appearance 
• Spruce/Pine – whitish wood with a beautiful grain, and reasonably tough for furniture and interiors.

SPF lumber

Cedar

Long used for building almost anything, cedar wood is good for construction because it is beautiful, aromatic, and durable even in damp conditions. Because of those properties, cedar is used for decking, siding, shutters, blinds, shingles, and exterior trim. We have cedar timber in 1 x 4, 1 x 6, 2 x 4, 2 x 6, 4 x 4, 4 x 6, 6 x 6, and 8 x 8 lumber of various lengths in our shop.

Spruce

A lot of structural lumber sold today is spruce because it is cost effective yet hard enough to be used for crucial areas such as floor joists, roof trusses, and wall framing. It is harder than pine wood and resistant to cracking, while being able to be easily worked with tools. We offer custom dimensional spruce lumber.

Poplar

A beautiful, softwood for furniture, small items, and house trim, poplar lumber is a good choice for woodworking without the hefty cost. Because of its relative softness compared to other woods, poplar is best used for interior of furniture, upholstery frames, and cabinet parts. We have custom dimensions for poplar lumber.
